This is the first ever State of the Bahaikipedia, end of the month report for April, 2008.

I am happy to announce that our first quarter growth has exceeded 1 person's expectations and that our total traffic is now only surpassed by every other site in the internet.

Jokes aside, the purpose of this project was to broaden the reach of the correct Bahá'í view on important topics and I think we've been successful. Over the last 6 months we've gone from showing up in around 150 unique searches to over 500 each month. It has always been a goal of mine to get Bahaikipedia to show up in searches for obscure Bahá'í topics, to put the Bahá'í perspective right out there as the first one people will see when they're searching for it, and I think this statistic alone shows that it's working.

Another neat statistic to watch is the number of visits that come from outside the United States. For the month of April we had visits from over 60 different countries! For those of you thinking of starting Bahaikipedia in a new language please know that there is interest out there for this project!

From September 2007 until February 2008 our traffic had stayed between 1100-1300 unique visitors per month and March gave no indication that it would improve as most of the page hits came from bot traffic. However April brought a nice surprise and this month not only saw the highest number of visits per day (consistently above 100 for the first time ever) but also a larger-then-expected jump in the unique visitors.

[edit] Commons

Some other notes: Bahaikipedia Commons (the shared image repository) has a completely redesigned Main Page (thanks to Wikimedia) providing links to all the relevant categories on the project, as well as a featured image each day.

The project now also has over 350 files (351 to be exact) with many recently added from the latest International Convention.

Traffic to Bahaikipedia Commons was 264 unique visitors and roughly 2,000 page views. Though it may not seem like a lot it represents a 44% growth over last month, a higher rate then Bahaikipedia in terms of unique visitors.

[edit] Other language versions

I'm sad to report that activity on the non-English Bahaikipedia's is all but non-existent. The individuals who had been so motivated to start them have I guess not had the time lately but I hope others will continue this very important work.

Chinese: Editing and account creation are completely suspended to avoid spam attacks.
French: This version had the best chance of success with a dedicated author, it is the largest after the English project. However visits have steadily declined as no contributions to the project are being made.
German & Russian: Each of these languages have shown promise but are both now stagnant.
Malay: Similar to the Chinese project that was started without a dedicated individual behind it, it has made no ground since it's opening.
