Welcome to our monthly State of Bahaikipedia report. There are two very exciting things to report this month. The first is that the French version is growing steadily thanks to Eric.Coffinet. The second is that Bahaikipedia has gained a Google page rank of 3, and this has resulted in people finding Bahaikipedia in over 1,000 unique searches. For comparison the average number of unique searches over the last 3 months has been just over 500. Google Page Rank is essentially a measure of website popularity based on incoming links from websites that Google indexes. A third interesting fact is that for the first time in many months there have been edits during the same 7 day period across 3 different languages, English, French, and Malay. For anyone who is interested, this month Bahaikipedia received visits from users in 72 different countries, interestingly Iran, Israel and Japan topping the list after the United States and before any other English speaking countries.
Though the progress may seem slow at first every contribution helps to build the encyclopedia, and the unique nature of the site, like on Wikipedia, means that once that contribution is made, no one else in the future needs to make it. As long as we're around, and we hope that it's a long time, no one else will need to redo the work that we've done, they can instead focus on making it better.
A note about Funding since it's a primary focus of many websites. Based on the cost of maintaining Bahaikipedia over the last 16 months and the rate of growth in traffic, I've set aside enough funding to keep the encyclopedia running for the next 5 years, short of it becoming as popular as the real Wikipedia of course ;) Technical limitations may move us from our current home earlier, but we'll have plenty of notice for that.
